Interview with Edwin Fiquero
EDWIN M. FIGUEROA’s directing debut was in 1997 on the short film TAINO featured on the inaugural SHOWTIME’S LATINO FILMMAKERS SHOWCASE, PBS’s REEL NEW YORK and on SiTV’s FOREIGN FILMMAKERS SHOWCASE as well as numerous film festivals in New York, Stonybrook, Austin and San Antonio.
His first Credited feature work came on 2005 as Co Director on GLOW ROPES – ‘The Rise and fall of a Bar Mitzvah Emcee’. His previous Directing work includes a pilot feature ORACLES, the documentary PIECES OF COURAGE and the short films DOO RAG, TAINO, OL HENRY and SMILE. Director of Photography credits include the short film El Cuarto shot in Italy, DOS C and HUSTLERS INSTINCT.
GLOW ROPES won Best Feature at the 2005 New York International Latino Film Festival. MOMENT to MOMENT went on to win grand prize in the 3rd SHOWTIMES LATINO FILMAKERS SHOWCASE and was also featured on SiTV along with El Cuarto and TAINO.
Tech experience includes 18 years as a Key Grip (IATSE Union member since 1997). Film’s Include SLINGBLADE, BOILER ROOM, ILLTOWN and EMPIRE. Dolly Grip work includes ALL THE PRETTY HORSES, DADDY AND THEM and LIVING IN OBLIVION.
